WHY?: To celebrate the new factions and explore new strategies.
HOW MANY?: My goal is to have no more than 25 players so that will a hard cutoff. Once I know the number of participants I'll break everyone into groups of 4 or 5 and then each player will play the other's in their group twice (6 or 8 games) with the caveat that no faction may be used more than once in the opening round
WHO: As with @TheDukester's
last Ascension tournament, we want this to be for Pocket Tactic's readers only. Therefore, I'm going to shamelessly copy his rule that any participant must have 10 or more real posts and an avatar. Hopefully, this will be more enjoyable and will foster strategic discussions among PT regulars. I have combed the last Summoner Wars tournament page and sent a direct notice to those members and others in current tournaments, but I'll have to grant spots to those who claim them in this thread.
TIMERS: I think the 7 day timer should be used, but I don't anticipate this being a problem.
PLAYOFFS: Depending on the number of entrants I'll either set up 2 groups in round 2 who will play all other players within their group. Or, if there are fewer entrants, we can go directly to the final round which will be a head to head best out of 5 (again, with no faction being used more than once). I will nail this down once I know the number of players.
WHEN: The tournament on Wednesday August 7th. I realize this only gives a couple of days to try out the new factions, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
REPORTS: As usual, the winner should report victories, with reference to their division and also to what factions were used. Example: Phoenix Elf Owen burned Guild Dwarf X in our first match from Division Y.
